Maai Mahiu derived its name from Kikuyu words meaning “Hot Water”
The town is developing at high rate with different investors who are willing to build industries in near future. The new bypass which will go through Ngong and Uaso will help to spur industries growth and development of the town. The standard Gauge Railways will also boost the growth and development of the town.
The town is in Nakuru County and in Nakuru county along Nairobi-Narok road at the junction of old the Narok road and Naivasha Road.
About twenty years ago, Maai Mahiu was contained of half dozen shops, a gas station, orphanage and few homes. But of late, the town looks like a Wild West. Located along the main highway which passes via east Africa, the town is also is appealing a vast truck shop.
The town is famous because of the Great Rift Valley escarpment that is found few kilometers away from the town.
