Molo town is located within Nakuru County about 47 kilometers from Nakuru town, along Mau forest that stream on the Mau escarpment. The town accommodates the town council. There is a branch of Kenya railways within the town that was previously Uganda Railway in 1977.
The town is among the coldest places in Kenya and therefore a good place for growing pyrethrum. There are other crops that grow well in the neighboring land of the town such as potatoes, maize and beans. The Kenyan National Potato Policy ranked Molo to be the second largest potatoes producer in Kenya. The lands are fertile.
The town hosts various tribes in Kenya.
Barley is grown in rural part of Molo town. The barley is used for production of beer. Kenya malting ltd factory and the depot are found in Molo town.
