It is a town in Nakuru County Kenya, about 43 kilometers from Nakuru town along Nakuru-Nyahururu road. According to census data 2009, Subukia town is said to have a population of 7,309.
The town is famous because of Subukia shrine which is located along Nyeri-Nyahururu road, about 4 kilometers from Subukia town. In May 1984, Cardinal Otunga proposed that the shrine be called “village of Mary, Mother of God” The parish was open on 15th august 1987. The shrine brings together people from different tribes of Kenya and these people make up the population in Subukia town. Subukia is also a meeting place of two hemispheres since the Equator is said to cut through the place.
